San Francisco Depression Help Psychotherapist
Depression, loneliness, isolation and overwhelming sadness are not things you can "snap out of." Depression can be caused by an imbalance of brain chemicals and/or emotional factors.
Like all medical problems, it should be treated. If not it can become a life limiting chronic condition that follows you for the rest of your life. Although everyone will usually have some periods of sadness, it's not correct to usually feel such a level of depression.
Do you experience any of the following symptoms on a regular basis?
- Difficulty falling asleep or difficulty staying asleep
- Waking up too early or oversleeping
- Feelings of prolonged sadness, often for no obvious reason
- Wanting to eat more than is healthy or a loss of appetite
- Difficulty concentrating and making decisions
- Feelings of unworthiness
- Thoughts of death or suicide
- Lack of interest in friends, family and things going on around you
- Feelings of low energy or extreme restlessness
These are common symptoms of depression and you should seek help if they continue for an extended period of time, or occur for no obvious reason. Having a trained professional to confide in is one part of an effective treatment for depression and the accompanying feelings of loneliness, isolation and overwhelming sadness.
I offer a warm, therapeutic, non-judgmental place to bring these feelings. You will find me to be interactive, supportive, and helpful in assessing your depression and developing a personalized treatment plan to increase your coping skills, strengths, and goals. Everyone deserves to have contentment in life.
