Berkeley Depression Help Psychotherapist
These are some common symptoms of clinical depression:
- Difficulty going to sleep or staying asleep
- Waking up too early
- Oversleeping
- Feelings of prolonged and overwhelming sadness
- Wanting to eat more than is healthy or a loss of appetite
- Difficulty concentrating and making decisions
- Unworthiness
- Thoughts of death
- Lack of interest in activities and/or people you typically enjoy
- Low energy or extreme restlessness
Depression often interferes with normal day to day tasks and causes suffering not only to those who are experiencing depression, but also to their loved ones. Unfortunately, many people do not recognize that depression is treatable. Many individuals with depression tend not to seek treatment, although a great majority could feel relief from their symptoms if they did.
If you are experiencing these feelings for more days than not and over an extended period of time, please know that support is available to help you address these feelings of depression.
No matter how much a person tries, depression cannot be willed away. Depression is usually brought on by an imbalance of brain chemicals and/or multiple emotional factors. Having a trained professional to talk over your feelings and life dilemmas is an important step towards gaining your life back.
I offer a supportive, therapeutic, and non-judgmental place for you to talk about your feelings and difficulties. You will find me to be interactive, receptive, and warm while we assess the level of your depression and develop a treatment plan. Together we will work to increase your coping skills, strengths, and goals to help you find more contentment in life.
